Sukhjeet Singh was murdered on September 1, 2016 in Basantapur village of Banda area of Shahajahanpur and police had arrested Gurpreet Singh from IGI Airport in New Delhi while he was about to board a flight for Dubai. During interrogation, Gurpreet confessed to murdering Sukhjeet with the help of Ramandeep. The two accused were granted bail by Allahabad High Court in 2017.
Gurpreet appeared for hearing in the court of ADJ Kshitij Kumar Srivastava on Tuesday, where the bail bondsman Devesh Kumar had withdrawn his name from the application of Gurpreet.
Advocate Ashok Kumar Khanna, the complainant’s advocate said, “After Kumar withdrew his name, we requested the judge to arrest Gurpreet as he could try to avoid court hearings in future as his guarantor also fears this. Our request was accepted and Gurpreet was immediately arrested and sent to jail.”
Daljeet Singh, Sukhjeet’s cousin told TOI, “I am very happy that the killer of my brother has been sent to jail by court. I have come to know through my sources that Ramandeep is living with another man in New Delhi and Gurpreet was not happy with her new relationship. This is probably the reason that the guarantor had withdrawn his name from the bail application.”
