Pilibhit: The autopsy of a male leopard cub, aged around six months, that died on Saturday showed the cause of death as infighting with an adult feline. The carcass was found in Lagdahan village under Palia forest range of North Kheri forest division, around 400 metres from the forest periphery.
On receiving information from locals, forest range officer Vinay Kumar reached the spot and shifted the carcass to the range headquarters, where the autopsy was conducted in the evening by a panel of three govt veterinary officers. The procedure was carried out in the presence of nominated delegates of the state's chief wildlife warden and the National Tiger Conservation Authority.
"The carcass had deep canine injuries on the spine and trachea, suggesting an attack by an adult leopard. After the postmortem, the carcass was incinerated as per NTCA protocol," Kumar said.
