PILIBHIT: A lekhpal from Kalinagar tehsil in Pilibhit district, Krishna Kumar Sagar, was arrested by the anti-corruption department for taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a farmer to expedite land-related paperwork.
The arrest came on Friday afternoon after a complaint by one Kanta Prasad of Bhimpur Nauja village on September 4.
Inspector Praveen Sanyal, leading a six-member anti-corruption team, said, “The accused has been booked under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Following a medical examination, he was sent to Gajraula police station.”
This marks the third bribery-related arrest involving lekhpals since March 15 this year in Pilibhit. Earlier, Anurag Gangwar of Amaria tehsil and Sunil Verma of Puranpur tehsil.
