police on Saturday booked Maulana
Tauqeer Raza Khan
, national president of
Ittehad-e-Millat Council
(IMC), and three others for taking out a protest march from Nomehla mosque to Damodar park against Citizenship Act, defying the imposition of section 144 in the state.
During an assembly outside the mosque, Tauqeer in his speech allegedly threatened the government that all the streets in the country would be stained with blood if Act was not withdrawn, at the earliest.
Station house officer (SHO) of Bareilly kotwali Geetesh Kapil said, “Tauqeer, along with Nafees Khan, Nadeem and one unidentified person, violated the section 144 and delivered inflammatory speech. We have booked them under sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the
Indian Penal Code
(IPC).
