History-sheeter arrested by Lakhimpur police

SHAHJAHANPUR: A history sheeter, wanted in several cases of murder, extortion, loot and others, was arrested in the Mailani area of Lakhimpur Kheri on Monday midnight. Sitapur and Lakhimpur police had announced a bounty of Rs 35000 on the accused, Sonu Darzi. He is a resident of Sansarpur village of Lakhimpur Kheri district and was planning a robbery when police nabbed him after receiving a tip off from an informer.
Sonu was earlier arrested by Shahjahanpur police because of his involvement in a robbery case. He was released on bail from Shahjahanpur district jail last August. Thereafter, he committed two robberies in Lakhimpur city 10 September along with his gang members and committed a dacoity in Biswa area of Sitapur district with his gang. His name came to light when one of his gang member was arrested by Sitapur police and a reward of Rs 20000 was announced on his name by SSP Sitapur while a bounty of Rs 15000 was announced by SSP Lakhimpur Kheri Ramlal Verma.
Sonu was arrested by SHO Mailani police station Brijesh Tripathi and sub inspector Dinesh Yadav along with the police team near Sansarpur village.
Brijesh Tripathi told TOI,"Sonu Darzi is a professional criminal and has committed several crimes in Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur and Sitapur. We have also recovered over 125 grams of narcotic substance from him. We have informed Sitapur police about their wanted accused and they may also ask for his custody through court.
