Bareilly: Girl attacked with acid over property dispute

property dispute

gone horribly wrong, a 26-year old girl, who is currently preparing for civil services examination, was attacked with acid by her maternal uncle.


The victim was on her way back home from her coaching class when her uncle and his five accomplices stopped, abused, threatened and then attacked her with acid. The incident took place near Veer Savarkar Nagar crossing under

Izzatnagar

police station on Wednesday night.

An FIR has been lodged against the six accused who are absconding. Police investigation is also on.

According to circle officer (CO), Pritam Pal Singh, the 26-year old girl has two maternal uncles.

“The victim lives with her mother at one of her maternal uncles’ house under Prem Nagar police station. A month ago, both brothers got into a heated argument over a matter related to property. And one of the brothers is in prison since,” Singh said.

Singh further said that the victim and her mother had supported one of her uncles in this matter. “The other uncle and five other persons were not on good terms with both the girl and her mother.”

Both the sides were quarrelling over their two-floor maternal house for a while.

“All the accused are residents of a colony under Izzatnagar police station,” Singh added.

Narrating the incident, Singh said, “The girl was on her way home from coaching class at 8:45 pm on Wednesday when her uncle along with five others stopped her and started abusing her. They also threatened to kill her. When the young girl protested, her uncle in a fit of rage threw acid on her back, and fled from the scene. On raising alarm, some locals came to her rescue and dialled ‘100’ to inform the police.”

“We immediately sent the traumatized girl to a nearby private hospital. She is out of danger now. An FIR has been lodged against the six persons under sections 326A (

acid throwing

), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 147 (rioting) of IPC. The accused are still at large and a police probe is currently on. We are conducting raids to nab the accused,” Singh added.
