Farmer killed, wife injured as truck hits bike in Pilibhit

Pilibhit: A 40-year-old farmer from Nabadia village under Amaria police station in Pilibhit district was killed after a truck hit his motorcycle from behind near Barhepura village on the Bareilly-Haridwar national highway on Monday. His wife, Manjit Kaur, who was riding pillion, sustained critical injuries.Police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital in Sitarganj, Uttarakhand. The truck was impounded and the driver was taken into custody. The body was sent for autopsy.SHO Amit Singh said, "Both the truck and the motorcycle were heading towards Sitarganj from Amaria side when the accident took place."An FIR would be registered after receiving a written complaint, the SHO said.
