Bareilly: A day after a sub-inspector (SI) was killed and his colleague sustained bullet injuries during a gun battle with armed assailants in Badaun, the family of the dead officer, Sarvesh Yadav, said it was the station officer’s (SO) 'carelessness' which led to his death. The family also said that they were disappointed with the UP government for not announcing any compensation for them.

said a probe will be ordered into the incident and he will also write to higher authorities for a compensation of Rs

and a job for a family member. According to the police, the incident took place on Wednesday night when information about three dreaded criminals being holed up near Ghatbeti
village under Binawar
police station was received. “One of them had a criminal record and two policemen were sent to nab them. But the miscreants were heavily armed and fired several shots at the cops. The policemen sustained bullet injuries, leading to SI Yadav’s

brother, said, “If a person is lynched by a mob, he is given Rs

as compensation and accommodation is provided for his kin too. My brother, who is a martyr, also deserves a fair compensation.” One of the miscreants, identified as Kaloo

, was nabbed after he was injured in the crossfire. “He is being treated at a hospital while our police teams are trying to catch the two other associates,” said Saxena
