Drug peddler held, 500 gm charas seized in Pilibhit

Pilibhit: Police in Pilibhit arrested a drug peddler with 500 gram charas near Yashwantri Devi Temple on Sunday evening. According to SHO Harish Vardhan Singh, the peddler, Nasir Hussain, is a resident of Madina Shah locality. “We suspected him while patrolling during the annual navratri mela. He attempted to flee but we managed to arrest him. He was carrying 500 grams of charas in a polythene bag. The accused confessed that he and his family members have been involved in the drug trade for over 20 years and this was their main source of income,” Singh said.The accused has been booked under section 20 (extortion by threat of accusation of an offence) and section 8 (produce, manufacture, possess, sell, purchase, transport, warehouse, use, consume, import, export any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance) of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances act, 1985, the SHO said.
