Local residents claimed that stray dogs often attacked passersby and on Saturday alone, more than 12 people were bitten by the same dog. Mohammad Ayaz a local, claimed that in spite of several complaints to officials concerned, no action had been taken against strays.
A veterinarian, Dr Alok Saxena, said, “Dogs feeding on raw flesh are more dangerous and both children and elderly are likely to fall prey to these dogs. It is advisable not to allow street dogs to eat raw flesh as it increases their tendency to attack humans. All shops selling or those using meat should not be allowed to throw flesh or bones in the open. Locals should check this.”
