BAREILLY: A day before the board exams, the district inspector of school changed five examination coordinators.
Out of the five, two exam centre coordinators were changed after the DIOS along with other district officials got a hint that their children are appearing in examinations from same centers where they were deputed as
examination coordinators. They were replaced by other officials while in remaining three cases, DIOS had appointed three new examination coordinators after previously appointed coordinators showed themselves unfit on medical grounds.
The centres where coordinators were changed include Bharat Sewak Samaj Inter College (Rajipuri Nawada), Sai Duttaram Dheengra Ucchtar Madhiyamik Vidhyalaya (Baheri), Tilak Inter College, Jai Narayan Inter College and Shri Krishana Inter College (Nawabganj).
Confirming reports about making changes, DIOS Ashutosh Bhardwaj said, “Two examination coordinators were replaced after reports of their children appearing in board examinations from same schools while other three were replaced on medical grounds.”
The whole district has been divided into nine zones and 34 sectors to keep tab on cheaters.
Over one lakh students will appear for the state board examinations which will be held at 125 examination centers in the district. The district education officials were forced to increase an examination centre after they received orders from the head office on February 16.
The new examination center was added in tally of 124 examination centers after a letter dated January 28 was received by DIOS the office on February 16 asking them to make Sudhanshu Mishra Inter College in Eit Jangira a centre. A mass cheating incident was reported at the college during board examinations in 2013 after which it was not considered for examination center. Around 55 high school students and 119 intermediate students are expected to appear from this centre.
As per education officials, earlier students enrolled at this center had to appear at Virendra Singh Inter College in Jogi Nawada (High School) while intermediate students had to appear for examinations at Kamla Tulsi Inter College at Navadiya Methi.
“The letter was dispatched from Head office on Januray 28, but it reached DIOS office on February 16 asking education officials to include school in question as examination center,” said a senior education official.
On the question of installation of CCTV cameras at sensitive examination centers, Bharadwaj said, “The plan is on track and the cameras will be installed as soon as they are made available to us by local administration.”
Apart from the DIOS, joint director education, Maya Niranjan, and additional secretary regional board office Sanjay Upadhaya too had prepared special teams to check incidents of cheating at examination centers.
Bhardwaj had also instructed all examination coordinators to immediately inform cops on duty if they came across anyone not appointed by education officials discharging examination duties under Uttar Pradesh Public examinations (Prevention of unfair means) Act 1992.
