Constable dead as truck rams jeep

Bareilly: A police patrol jeep was run over by a 10-tyre speeding truck, killing one constable on the spot and critically injuring another on Monday morning near Atta Kayasthayan village under CB Ganj police station. The accused truck driver, who was also injured in the accident, has been arrested and is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Circle officer 2 Snehalata said, “In the incident constable Rakesh Babu Sharma died on the spot while constable Kartar Singh was critically injured. Singh, along with the accused truck driver was rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment. The deceased was a resident of Nagau village under Tundla police station in Firozabad district.”
As per police, Inspector Ram Pal Singh, who was also there in the patrol jeep escaped with minor injuries after the 10-tyre truck, on its way from city to Moradabad, carrying scrap, collided with the jeep near Himanshu Dhaba in CB Ganj.
A case had been lodged under Section 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) along with other relevant sections of Indian Penal Code.
