BAREILLY: City administration has begun preparations for the visit of chief minister
Akhilesh Yadav, who is expected to come in the third week of this month. CM would be inaugurating the new district jail campus at
Saidpur Kurmiyaan village
, lay the foundation stone of the
Lohia park
and distribute laptops and Samjwadi pension to beneficiaries in a function, it is learnt.
To be built on the lines of Janeshwar park in Lucknow, the Lohia park in Bareilly will offer facilities for adventure rides, a swimming pool, a jogging track and gardens with a wide variety of flora.
Bareilly Development Authority
(BDA) had proposed a project worth Rs 60 crore for the same. As against a proposed cost of Rs 60 crore, the administration has now directed BDA to construct a boundary wall, a jogging track and other basic amenities at a cost of Rs 10 crore.
Commissioner Pramanshu along with district magistrate
Pankaj Yadav and other officials visited the old district jail campus on Thursday, where the Lohia park is proposed to come up.
The district jail will be shifted to its new campus at Saidpur Kurmiyan village and will be inaugurated by Akhilesh Yadav. TOI had earlier reported that DM Pankaj Yadav had intervened after the shifting of the existing district jail to the new hi-tech prison campus was delayed following jail superintendent’s claims that basic amenities in the premises like internet connectivity and a flour mill were yet to be provided.
Speaking with TOI, DM Pankaj Yadav said, “All the issues have been taken care of. Regarding internet connectivity, I had a word with district informatics officer (DIO) and the issue would be taken care of following which the shifting process will begin.”
Other modalities of the proposed visit like construction of a helipad and identifying a site for public address are also being finalized following which the CM office will issue a protocol of the visit and other itineraries, sources said.
