Chased by monkeys, elderly man falls to death in Uttar Pradesh

PILIBHIT: A 50-year-old man fell from the first storey of his house on Wednesday afternoon and died while trying to flee from a group of monkeys in Jyoraha Kalyanpur village under the jurisdiction of Barkhera police station.

According to the SHO, Udai Veer Singh, the deceased was identified as Shyam Bihari, a farmer. He was reportedly sitting on the first storey of his house when at around 3 pm, when a pack of monkeys attacked him, as he tried to chase them away. To save himself, he jumped off the building.

The man was rushed to the local community center where he was referred to the district hospital at Pilibhit. He had sustained fractures and brain hemorrhage after the fall. Later, he succumbed to his injuries at a higher medical facility in Bareilly at around 2 am on Thursday, and his body was sent for autopsy.

The locals said that many children and women have been bitten by monkeys in the past.
