Bareilly: After India made it to the final of the ICC Under-19 World Cup by beating Pakistan by 203 runs in the semi-final, celebration and special prayers were held on Tuesday at the houses and schools of two Moradabad players-- Shiva Singh and Aryan Juyal.
The family of 18-year-old Shiva conducted a special ‘havan’ and prayed for country’s win in the world cup final.

They also distributed sweets.
Shiva received initial training by his father, Ajit Singh, a businessman who also played in Ranji Trophy. “In his childhood, Shiva was interested in all sports but he later started focusing on cricket and wanted to go out of the state to play cricket. When Shiva was in class VI, he was weak in studies and I told him that if he clears his exam, I will send him to Calcutta for playing a match. The love for cricket made him clear the exam,” said Ajit.
Before making it to ICC Under-19 World Cup, Shiva has played for India in under-14 and under-16. He was also part of IPL’s Kings XI Punjab team last year, but could not get a chance to play in the field.
“Shiva did not write his class XII exams last year to focus on the cricket. We are proud of his achievements,” said Ajit. Shiva’s younger brother Parv (13) also wants to become cricketer.
Friends and teachers of Aryan Juyal, 16, at his Nosegay Public School in Moradabad took out a rally to celebrate the victory. His family at their Civil Lines residence distributed sweets. Though Aryan’s doctor parents live in Haldwani, he has been living in Moradabad for over six years now.
“Aryan started living in Moradabad when he was in class VI to play for Uttar Pradesh. He is a bright student and secured 10 CGPA in his class X exam and manages his time well to give proper time to both studies and cricket,” said Jaya Tiwari, his aunt. She added, “His father, Dr Sanjay Juyal, noticed his talent in cricket and encouraged him in this field.”
