Bareilly: Acting on a tantrik’s advice, a childless couple allegedly kidnapped a nine-year-old boy and sacrificed him on the eve of Holi in the hope of conceiving a child.
The decapitated body of the boy was fished out from a pond in Gangabehad village of Lakhimpur Kheri district on March 22. Police on Tuesday arrested five accused, including the tantric and two women, in this connection.
On March 4, Ram Naresh, the father, lodged a complaint at Nighasan police station that his son Ghanshyam, alias Bholu, had gone missing.
Soon, police launched a search operation for Bholu, but in vain. Later, some passer-by spotted the boy’s body floating in the pond at Gangabehad and alerted police.
After recovering the body, Nighasan police replaced the missing person FIR with the case of abduction and murder, and deputed two police teams to investigate the case.
Giving details, station house officer (SHO) of Nighasan police station Amit Kumar Dubey said, “During investigation, it was found that a childless couple of the same village had sacrificed the boy with the help of his brother and two other persons on the advice of a tantrik. We came to know about a couple in the village who often used to perform tantrik rituals for conceiving a child. Police kept an eye on them and got a breakthrough.”
SHO said, “We have arrested all five accused, including Pappu and his wife Sita Devi, his younger brother Guddu and his wife, and tantric Abrar Khan. Pappu, Guddu and Abrar had kidnapped and sacrificed the boy and both women helped them in the crime.”
