BADAUN: A case of alleged gang rape has been filed against BJP MLA Harish Shakya, his brother Satendra Shakya, and 16 others in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh. The Civil Lines Police Station registered the case following a court order, with charges including sexual assault, land grabbing, and other offenses.

The filed complaint encompasses multiple serious accusations, including sexual assault and illegal land acquisition, amongst various other criminal charges against the accused individuals.

The complainant's family, from a village in the UjhKotwali area, possesses 25 bighas of valuable land. According to their statement, the MLA, a former BJP district president, attempted to acquire their property at significantly reduced rates. Upon their refusal, the family reportedly experienced intimidation.

The complainant stated that her husband faced a fabricated rape charge and was subsequently kidnapped and subjected to torture. She reported being deceived into visiting the MLA's camp office for resolution but was allegedly sexually assaulted by the MLA, his brother, and others. They purportedly compelled her to sign three land-related agreements.

The family sought intervention from MP/MLA Special Judge, Leelu Chaudhary, who instructed the police to register and investigate the case. Subsequently, authorities filed an FIR against the accused parties.

The complainant's statement outlined systematic intimidation. She stated that her cousin, Rohit, was abducted and beaten to pressure her family regarding the land sale. Rohit allegedly died by suicide in August 2022. The family reported that their appeals for justice received no response from officials.

The complainant additionally reported destruction of their crops and continuous pressure to sell their land at reduced prices.

MLA Harish Shakya has refuted these accusations, stating they lack foundation. The BJP representative suggested a deliberate attempt to damage his reputation, expressing confidence in the legal system.

The case has attracted significant attention, with police commencing their investigation. The complainant's family has requested comprehensive inquiry procedures, including polygraph and narco examinations.
