SHAHJAHANPUR: A heated argument between zila panchayat chief Ajay Pratap Yadav and BJP MLA Roshanlal Verma started just before the arrival of chief minister Yogi Adityanath in Shahjahanpur. The situation took an ugly turn as both of them accused each other of working as land mafias. A series of charges were exchanged between the two in the presence of Union minister of State Krishna Raj and UP cabinet minister Suresh Khanna.

The differences between the Union and the state minister came to the fore when Krishna Raj lent her support to Roshanlal, while Khanna supported Yadav. The high voltage drama continued for nearly ten minutes.
When TOI spoke with Ajay Pratap about the incident, he said, “I would not like to say anything about this issue. Roshanlal alleged that I am supporting Samajwadi Party workers and passed disrespectful comments against me which I couldn’t bear. Anyone who heard the conversation would tell that he was getting aggressive unnecessarily. I have forgotten the episode and don’t want to discuss it further.”
Meanwhile, MLA Roshanlal said that he would raise this issue with the chief minister soon and will not forgive Ajay for helping Samajwadi Party’s land mafias. He said, “A poor family was asked to leave their own house by land mafias in collaboration with Ajay Pratap. When I raised this issue with minister Suresh Khanna, Ajay started shouting at me.”
