Bareilly: A critical care hospital block and an Integrated Public Health Laboratory (IPHL) sanctioned for Bareilly under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) have been shifted to Lucknow after the Bareilly district administration failed to acquire land, said minister of state for health and family welfare Prataprao Jadhav.
He shared the information in response to a query by Neeraj Maurya, Samajwadi Party MP from the Aonla Lok Sabha constituency, who had sought details from the Union health ministry on the status of proposed health infrastructure projects in Bareilly and adjoining districts.
Jadhav said that while critical care blocks and IPHLs are being set up across Uttar Pradesh under the scheme, the Bareilly facilities were relocated due to the non-availability of suitable land.
Reacting to the development, Samajwadi Party leader Mayank Shukla said, "Due to the failure to provide five acres of land for the critical care unit approved by the Central govt for Bareilly, it was shifted to Lucknow after five years. Responsibility must be fixed and action taken against the officials concerned."
Maurya told TOI that he would raise the issue with state authorities. TOI attempted to contact Bareilly district magistrate Avinash Singh for comment, but he was unavailable.
