Armed miscreants loot Baroda UP Gramin Bank in Hardaspur, takes away Rs 5.8 lakh
Bareilly: Armed miscreants on Thursday afternoon looted the Baroda UP Gramin Bank located in Hardaspur village under Sirauli police station. While number of miscreants is yet to be ascertained, bank officials said took away Rs 5.8 lakh. Talking to TOI, district coordinator Baroda UP Gramin Bank U C Dubey said, “The incident was reported around 2.30pm when some yet to be identified miscreants broke inside the bank premises and decamped with Rs 5.83 lakh. They managed to escape from spot.” Station Officer Sirauli police station R K Singh said, “The investigation into the incident is on and it would be too early to on comment anything yet. We are yet to ascertain number of miscreants involved in the incident. We know at least three people were involved and they used a motorcycle to flee from the spot.” “The bank doesn’t have any CCTV cameras. The miscreants, armed with weapons, held the cashier and other bank employees as hostage while conducting the loot and escaped from spot on a motorcycle.” Senior police officials, including SSP R K Bhardwaj, SP Rural Yamuna Prasad and others rushed to the spot. Talking to TOI, SSP R K Bhardwaj said, “Six teams have been formed to probe the case. A case against bank officials too will be lodged as no proper security measures were adopted for security, making it prone to such incident.” Bank branch manager Amit Agarwal said, “The process for the installation of CCTV camera is in the pipeline. Hiring a security guard and other necessary measures are in the hands of controlling officers, who should have ensured such arrangements at branch. During the heist, the miscreants also physically assaulted some bank employees though no one was majorly injured.” “Being a rural branch, we can keep between Rs 5 to Rs 10 lakh and the miscreants too away all entire cash.”
