65-year-old man found dead in his home

BAREILLY

: A 65-year-old man, Nathu Lal, was found dead in his home in Haiderganj village under Shahi police station on Friday. Police have lodged an FIR against Lal’s neighbours Chote and Maan Singh, who they believe gave him liquor laced with

poison

on Thursday night.


Sun Mere Lal, the deceased’s younger brother, said, “My brother had once had a fight with Chote and Maan Singh over liquor many years ago. Since then, the duo threatened to kill him several times. On Thursday night, Chote and Singh took Nathu to their place and served him liquor. He slept off after that and was found dead the next morning.”

Lal added, “When Nathu’s wife Ram Shri tried to wake him around 8:30 am for breakfast, she found him dead and raised an alarm.”

Shahi police station house officer (SHO) Arvind Singh, said, “A police team reached the spot on getting information but the accused had fled by then. An FIR has been lodged against both the accused under sections 304 (

culpable homicide

not amounting to murder) and 328 (Causing hurt by means of poison, etc) of IPC. We are conducting raids to nab the accused, who are still at large. We have sent the body for autopsy.”
