BAREILLY: At least four persons were killed and nearly 25 people sustained severe injuries after two roadways buses collided at
Bareilly-Mathura highway
in Badaun on Tuesday.
The injured people have been admitted to district hospital for treatment.
According to police, two roadways buses of
Agra depot and Pilibhit depot
collided at Bareilly-Mathura highway in Badaun on Tuesday afternoon. “Agra depot bus was moving on the wrong side and it tried to overtake another vehicle leading to the collision with Pilibhit depot bus. Three persons died on the spot and one succumbed to injuries during treatment. The injured people were immediately rushed to the district hospital,” said Yatendra Bhardwaj, station officer, Ujhani police station.
The deceased have been identified as Mithlesh Devi (40) of Musajhag in Badaun, Aman Sharma (23) of Shahbad in Rampur, Kishori Devi (40) of Mainpuri and her nine-year-old granddaughter Sonkashi.
Though no FIR has been lodged, transport department has ordered an inquiry. Regional manager, Uttar Pradesh State Transport Corporation (UPSRTC), Prabhakar Mishra who inspected the site told TOI, “We are waiting for the technical report of service manager to know what led to accident. Agra depot bus was moving at a speed of 80 kilometre per hour. However, the speed should have been 60 kilometre per hour or less, because the road was not smooth. We will take necessary action once we get technical report in this connection.”
