Pilibhit: Four people were killed and a man suffered serious injuries in three separate road accidents reported from different parts of Pilibhit district since Sunday, police said.
In the first incident, a speeding car hit a motorcycle on the Khandepur-Kesarpur road on Sunday evening, killing the pillion rider, Mohammad Hussain, 35. His cousin, Badruddin Ahmad, 37, who was riding the motorcycle, suffered injuries and was taken to a community health centre.
The car driver, Rohit Mishra, 31, a forest guard, was also injured in the accident and died during treatment on Monday.
In the second incident, a truck hit Mukundi Lal Balmiki, 65, at Chhatri crossing around 9pm on Sunday. Balmiki died on the spot. The truck driver allegedly fled after the incident, leaving the vehicle behind. Villagers later caught the helper and handed him over to police.
In the third case, a tractor-trolley hit Maya Devi, 75, on Station Road while she was walking home. She died on the spot and the driver fled, abandoning the vehicle.
Sungarhi SHO Naresh Tyagi said, "No case has been registered so far as we are awaiting complaints from the families," he said.
