4 injured in blast of improvised hand grenade in Pilibhit
Pilibhit: Four members of a family, including an elderly woman, sustained injuries in a blast caused by an improvised handmade grenade inside a house in Gahluiya village of Pilibhit on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 2 pm under the limits of Puranpur Kotwali police station. The police sealed off the affected area, and a forensic team was dispatched to collect evidence.According to ASP Vikram Dahiya, who inspected the site, discussions are underway with the explosive department in Bareilly to send experts to collect samples of the explosive material. Authorities are investigating whether the grenades were assembled by the victims themselves or obtained from external sources. The injured were identified as Taj Mohammad (38), his mother Haseen Bano (65), Wahid Ali, and Aslam Shekh. They were taken to the Puranpur tehsil headquarters-based community health centre, where medical officer Dr Manish Raj Sharma referred Haseen Bano to the Autonomous State Medical College due to a ruptured vein in her arm. The other three sustained multiple small lacerations, approximately 0.5 cm each, containing foreign particles.Dahiya added that during questioning, two of the injured individuals claimed the explosive material belonged to the family of their father's younger brother, Banne Khan, and was found in their section of the shared residence. However, most villagers claimed that Mohammad is attempting to frame his uncle's family in a false criminal case over a property dispute. The ASP added that questioning was in progress and an FIR will be filed in the matter.
