2 Dehradun women held for drug peddling
BAREILLY: District police on Sunday night nabbed two women hotel owners of Uttarakhand hailing from Dehradun for allegedly procuring heroin from local agents for supplying to clients, including students, foreign tourists and drug addicts in the neighbouring state.
The two, it has come to light, are divorcees and met in court during their respective divorce petition hearings and became good friends.

Later, they came in contact with a drug dealer of Dehradun, identified as “Chachu” and the two joined him, acting as his conduits and entered the murky world of drug peddling.
According to sources, police at Fatehgunj West police station received a tip off on Sunday evening about the movement of two women from Uttarakhand who had purchased the contraband from a local contact. The police team laid a trap and caught the duo near the Radha Krishna temple bus stop, where they were waiting for a bus. Cops seized 8 gm of heroin from their possession, which they had procured for their customers
During interrogation, the two woman were identified as Rekha Thapa, a resident Latpur Dham, Dehradun and Neha, a resident Nai Basti, Badigard, Dehradun.The two had purchased the contraband from a resident living in the area under Fatehgunj West police station, Qamar Khan, said SP, rural areas, Brijesh Kumar Srivastava.
Both women admitted that they were divorcees and had met during court hearings for their divorce case. They became close friends. Both own a hotel in Dehradun from where they supply drugs to their customers, who include tourists, students and drug addicts, said Srivastava.
They told cops that they are into the business for quite a long time and visited Bareilly from time to time to buy heroin for a man named Chachu who had engaged them keeping in mind the fact that being women they would not attract the attention of law enforcement agencies.
On Monday, the two were produced before a magistrate who sent them to judicial custody.
