Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Gevrai police in Beed arrested two men within six hours of registering a murder case linked to a dispute over gairan (grazing) land bunding.
The accused have been identified as Madhukar Shinde and Manohar Shinde, both residents of Mangar Tanda. The police registered an offence under sections 103(1), 352 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder.
The case came to light after complainant Papesh, alias Guddaya Arjun Mali (31), a farmer from Ram Nagar Tanda in Gevrai taluka, approached the police on Sunday and lodged a complaint stating that his father, Arjun Mali, had gone to inspect a gairan land parcel in Gondgaon on April 11 around 5pm. A dispute reportedly broke out over bunding of the land, which escalated into a violent assault on his father.
Inspector Kishore Pawar said the victim sustained severe injuries in the attack. He was initially administered primary treatment before being shifted to a govt hospital for advanced care. However, doctors declared him dead during treatment.
Beed SP Navneet Kanwat said, "Considering the seriousness of the offence, multiple teams were immediately formed and dispatched to different districts. The accused had switched off their mobile phones to evade arrest, but our teams tracked them through technical and human intelligence."
Acting on a specific tip-off, police located the accused in the Barshi Naka area of Beed city, where they were allegedly attempting to flee.
