Maharashtra horror: Nurse gang-raped after knocking on wrong hotel room; 3 accused arrested
CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: Three men allegedly gang-raped a 30-year-old nurse who accidentally knocked on their hotel room while visiting a friend near the railway station area on Wednesday night.
The Vedant Nagar police arrested all three accused — Ghanshyam Rathod (27), Rishikesh Chavan (25), and Kiran Rathod (25) — on Thursday.
Both the Rathods are recovery agents with a bank, while Chavan is an MBA student, police said. They have been remanded in police custody for four days.
Inspector Pravina Yadav said the accused fled immediately after the crime, which took place between 11pm on Wednesday and 3am on Thursday. They were traced within three hours of the complaint based on technical and local intelligence inputs, she said.
"The preliminary probe revealed that the accused trio are friends and had gathered at the hotel room to drink liquor. The victim mistakenly reached their room 205, instead of 105. They allegedly took advantage of the situation and gang-raped her," said Yadav.
According to police, the survivor is married and has an infant child. She works as a nurse at a private hospital and is the primary breadwinner of the family. Her husband, who was earlier unemployed, recently started working. Facing financial difficulties, the woman sought monetary help from a friend residing in Bhokardan of Jalna. The friend promised to help her and asked her to meet him at the hotel.
Around 11pm, the woman stepped out of the hotel to take a phone call. While returning, she went to the second floor by mistake and knocked on the wrong room.
Inside the wrong room, when she saw the three accused drinking, she asked for her friend by name and was told he wasn't there. As she turned to leave, one of the accused allegedly told her that her friend was inside and pulled her into the room. Police said they then locked the door, forced her to drink alcohol and sexually assaulted her.
Between 3am and 4am, the woman managed to open the door, escaped, and raised an alarm. She then approached the Vedant Nagar police station and filed a complaint.
Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to gang rape, wrongful confinement, and criminal intimidation.

Regardless of comments about the fishy story, the lack of sympathy, and saddest yet the inability to show empathy for the VICTIM, what people fail to identify is that the LAW was broken. Someone was molested - PERIOD! Why she was there? What time of the night? What is a married woman doing at that time of the night? NONE of these are crimes. Even is she showed up completed naked at the door, that does not mean she wants to be raped. Even if she was prostituting, she does not want to be raped. If you cannot understand the last two statement, then keep you mothers, wives, and daughters locked up - By your own logic, the fact that any females in your family are alive means they want to be raped. Think long and hard, then make comments.Read allPost comment
