Police maintained that 51-year-old rope manufacturer

Ramvallabh Asaram Baheti

- hailing from Selu in Parbhani district - has a bank account with Osmanpura-based branch of

Union Bank of India

and uses the account for carrying out financial transactions.

On September 22, using his official email address (account@kohinoorrope.com), the victim shot an email to the bank (cbosmanpura@unionbankofindia.com), requesting to transfer Rs 2.33 lakh to

Swastik Polymer

in Gurgaon and Rs 20,790 to Gaziabad-based Gayatri Roadways.

Baheti in his complaint to the police stated that an hour after sending the email, he found that an amount of Rs 15.35 lakh has been transferred to Renu Sugars, a firm-based in Noida's

Gautam Budh Nagar

.

He soon contacted the branch manager, only to learn that the bank had received an email requesting transfer of Rs 15.35 lakh to Renu Sugars. Taking cognizance of the objection raised by Baheti, the bank tried stopping the transaction but in vain.

Baheti, soon reached out to the police, which communicated to the respective bank to trail the money. They found that Renu Sugars, soon after receiving the money, transferred an amount of Rs 6.43 lakhs to another firm Sai Krupa Enterprises, which again turned out to be a Noida-based firm.
