‘Tourism can help empower people with skills’

The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) in association with the Aurangabad Tourism Promoters Guild (TPG) and the Aurangabad Tourist Guides Welfare Association (ATGWA) will organise an awareness campaign and clean monument drive at the Ellora Visitors’ Centre on September 27 to mark World Tourism Day (WTD).

TPG president Jaswant Singh said, “The focus would be on the ability of tourism to empower people and provide them with skills to achieve change in their local communities. Students and staff of Revival School would also join the campaign to highlight tourism’s social, cultural, political and economic value.“This would be a part of the ‘Mission Swacch Bharat’ which would be launched on October 2, to mark Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday and to create clean India, as visioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.MTDC deputy general manager Shekhar Jaiswal, MTDC assistant executive engineer Pallavi Sonawane and MTDC junior engineer Vishal Chandak along with TPG members Nitin Thakkar, Ashitosh Badwe, Rubina Sayed, Vedant Ratnaparkhi, Sachin Kulkarni, Subhash Jadhav, Ratnakar Shevale, Amod Basole, Pankaj Kawde, Vivek Pathak and members of ATGWA are extending their support to the drive.
