Teen drowns in Kagzipura lake, two others rescued by locals

while two of his friends were rescued by some local youths on Thursday noon.


The deceased, Naseeb Mobin Khan, had gone with his friends Shaikh Arbaz and Shaikh Shabbir to Khultabad and Daulatabad for a picnic when the accident happened, police said on Friday.

Naseeb worked at a paan stall while studying while his father is employed with a leading baker in the city, said police, adding that all the three boys together cleared std XI.

Naseeb’s family members said that he had returned from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh only a few days ago after meeting his grandparents.

According to police, the three teenagers were unaware of the depth of the lake and entered the water. Naseeb, who did not know swimming, started drowning and caught hold of Shabbir, who was next to him.

Arbaz too started drowning but raised an alarm, following which some youths from the village rushed to their rescue and managed to save Arbaz and Shabbir.

The matter was soon brought to the notice of Khultabad police, who reached the spot and, with the help of locals, pulled out Naseeb’s body, who had got stuck in the silt. He was taken to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
