AURANGABAD: End of the year in school is an exciting time for students, who get to participate and plan various school events like sports competitions, cultural festivals, and other special events as a break from the usual day routines.
More than 350 students from city schools participated in an inter-school sports competition organised by AL Ameen Urdu Primary School recently.
Events like a race of 100 meters, 50 meter back race, umbrella race and many other interesting sport events were held during the event.
The objective of the competition was to inculcate sportsman spirit and instil competition spirit among youngsters, which would ensure their all-round development, organisers said.
Mirza Faheem Baig, Shaikh Yousuf, Zeeshan Zaidi, Haroon Quraishi and Md Mohteshim ,Abdul Raffey and Zeeshan Zaidi and sports guide Quraishi among others were present during distribution of medal and certificates to winning students.
Seminar at MJ College: A special seminar themed on 'New trends in print media' has been organised by KCES's Moolji Jaitha (MJ) College, Jalgaon for the benefit of students, on Tuesday.
Senior journalists from several leading newspapers are scheduled to take part in the event.
College principal P R Choudhari, vice-principal V B Bharambe and head of the department Vinod Nitale have appealed students and faculties to take benefit of the seminar.
It will be held at the seminar hall of the college at 10 am, organisers said.
Painting exhibition at Deogiri college: The second annual Marathwada-level painting exhibition will be organised by Deogiri college here from January 1. The event is expected to provide platform to students from junior colleges and Fine Arts institutes to showcase their art.
'National integration', 'Clean India', 'Save Girl Child' and 'India in 2020' are some of the painting themes for junior college students. Students from Fine Arts college can contribute on 'Save Girl Child' and 'India in 2020' along with nature drawing and portrait drawing.
Total prizes worth Rs 15,600 will be awarded to top paintings. The last date for sending entries is December 25, organisers said.
College vice-principal and exhibition convener Sambhaji Kamandar, coordinator Jijasaheb Shinde and Pallavi Bhoge have appealed students to take part in the exhibition in maximum numbers.
Science lecture series at Milind College: Interesting facts related to collection, packaging, storage and retrieval of crime related evidences were shared with students by S G Gupta, Director of Government Institute of Forensic Science, during a lecture-series organised by Milind College of Science here recently.
"As the crime rate is going up in our society, youth have promising career opportunities associated with forensic laboratories and in turn contribute to the society," he said.
In another lecture, Anuj Jain, a scientist with Wockhardt Limited dwelt upon the green approaches by industries to minimize industrial pollution. Vijay Diwan, ex member of Marathwada Development Board, urged the students for adopting scientific approaches while carrying out sustainable development in the society.
The lecture series, named after great Indian scientist C V Raman, was attended by students and citizens in large number. College principal Mohammed Shafique, senior faculty Bharati Biswas-Bhandekar along with others were also present.
City girl wins elocution competition: Rutuja Dilip Pathe, student of New English School, Satara area has won the first prize in state level elocution competition organised by Ved Vidnyan Anusandhan Sanstha recently.
Rutuja, who studies in Class VIII, was awarded a trophy, a citation and a cash prize of Rs 1,111.
