AURANGABAD: Quiz competitions and keertans, among other events have been organised to commemorate Veer Baal Diwas by the city-based
Sikh community, the organizers informed on Thursday.
“The three gurdwaras in Aurangabad have organized different events to observe the Veer Baal Diwas. Preparations are on in full swing to ensure the maiden occasion is celebrated on a large scale,” Ranjit Singh Gulati, the head of Sindhi Colony-based gurdwara, said.
The Centre has decided to commemorate December 26 as Veer Baal Diwas in honour of the supreme sacrifice made by Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh — the younger sons of the
Sikh Guru Govind Singh.
The duo laid down their lives on December 26, 1705 at a tender age of 9 and 6 years, respectively to defend the dignity and honour of Sikhism.
“It is indeed a matter of pride that the beginning of Veer Baal Diwas is coinciding with the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav of India. The entire Sikh community will leave no stone unturned to make this day memorable,” Harvinder Singh Bindra, head of Osmanpura-based gurdwara, said. Narendrasingh Jabinda, head of Shahaganj-based gurdwara, said the events will begin from December 25.
“The events will kick-start from Osmanpura-based gurdwara where quiz competition will be organized for students from 11 am to 4 pm. On the next day, the gurdwara in Sindhi Colony will have Keertan and Langar. The life and valour of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh will be narrated to the people thorough different means,” he said.
