Sena accuses BJP worker of morphing Uddhav pic
Aurangabad: A Shiv Sena leader has lodged a complaint with the cybercrime police against a BJP workers for allegedly morphing a photograph of Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray with controversial preacher Zakir Naik and posting it on social media.
The social media post has caused serious furore in the political circles. Taking cognizance of the defaming post, Sena MLC Ambadas Danve issued directives for officially lodging a complaint against the BJP worker.
Sensing trouble, the BJP leader not only deleted the picture but also posted an apology in this regard on the social media.
Despite this, the issue is far from over for Sena as they have threatened to go all out if action is not initiated against the suspect. Former Sena corporator Gopal Kulkarni has lodged a complaint with the cybercrime police against BJP’s Mangalmurti Shashtri and demanded his arrest for trying to defame Thackeray.
After carrying out a probe in this regard, cybercrime police station has referred the matter to the Kranti Chowk police station. With Sena and BJP being at loggerheads over the post of chief minister in Maharashtra, the incident has turned out to be the first in state wherein the differences between the rivals has reached the police.
According to sources, after learning about the matter reaching police, senior BJP leaders too jumped in to support their party worker.
A cybercrime police officer said that the complaint was lodged last week following which a preliminary probe was carried out to check for violations of sections of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act.
Cyber police inspector Kailash Deshmane confirmed of receiving the complaint before forwarding it to Kranti Chowk police station.
Citing sensitivity involved in the case, police officers, including Kranti Chowk police inspector Uttam Mudak, despite repeated attempts could not be reached for their comments.
