Aurangabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) is taking steps to promote the UTS mobile application and digital transactions for ticketing at the Aurangabad railway station.
The commercial department of SCR on Friday conducted a seminar in Aurangabad, during which, the divisional employees were asked to increase the share of UTS app for ticketing to 20% by year-end and encourage cashless transactions through
UPI.
Addressing the seminar, chief commercial manager K Sambasiva Rao gave a detailed presentation on enhancing the adoption of the UTS mobile app and steps to be taken to increase the utilization of Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs). While stressing on the need for increasing the share of digital payments through PoS machines using debit or credit cards and UPI for ticketing, he said that the workload on the staff and stress on printing stationery would reduce immensely.
Nagendra Prasad, the senior divisional commercial manager of the Nanded division, in his address, highlighted the need to leverage technology and proliferate easy methods of ticketing by taking up public awareness campaigns.
A large number of railway commercial department staff in the cadre of booking supervisors, commercial inspectors, ticket inspectors and reservation supervisors from the Nanded division participated in the seminar and shared their views and suggestions on further improving the ticketing system with a focus on enhancing the adoption of digital modes.
Considered a passenger-friendly tool, UTS mobile app can be used from a distance of up to 20 km from a station. While the app eliminates the need of standing in a queue for tickets, consumers can get a 3% concession when tickets are purchased through r-wallet.
