Revival of standing committee, other panels in CSMC after 6 yrs

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The special general body meeting of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) held on Thursday constituted the standing committee and five other panels of the civic body with different parties largely pitching for their experienced corporators.While the CSMC witnessed the rule of the administrator from April 2020 until the recent polls to the municipal corporation, these key panels have witnessed revival after a gap of almost six years.At the outset of the meeting, every political party submitted their nominations for the members of the panels in keeping with their strength in the house. The CSMC has a total of 115 corporators.Mayor Sameer Rajurkar said the standing committee and other panels play an important role in ensuring effective redressal of various public issues. "It is expected that the work of these committees will be more effective in terms of the expectations of the citizens and the development of the city," he said.The 16-member standing committee has eight corporators from the BJP including Anil Makariye, who was in the race for mayor. It has four members of AIMIM, two from Shiv Sena and one each from Shiv Sena (UBT) and VBA. All eyes will be on the election to the chairman of the standing committee, which will take place after the nod from the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar divisional commissioner. City improvement committee and women and child welfare committee are among other panels that have witnessed revival.
