Milkha Singh, also known as Flying Sikh, will inaugurate an exhibition being organised on the sidelines of the main event on Saturday at MIT. “He will allot badges to the runners and apprise them of other details related to the race,” said

Ashish Garde

of the

Aurangabad Black Bucks

(ABB), a non-profit charitable organisation hosting the half marathon.

“The

half marathon

would be organised in three categories, including 10km, 21km and 25km, between

Daulatabad Fort

and Ellora Caves,” Garde said.

He said the event aims to promote running culture in the city while highlighting the rich culture and heritage of Aurangabad. “The other objective of the race is to put Aurangabad on the map of marathon running events in the country and to take advantage of the marathon runners visiting the city to popularise it as a tourist destination amongst young professionals across the world,” Garde added.

The registrations for the event were closed two weeks prior to the actual race, he said, adding that the event would be conducted in a professional manner with the help of electronic timing technology under the guidance of expert marathoners. “The MIT Aurangabad Heritage Half Marathon will provide all the required facilities for the runners,” Garde said.
