"In order to wake MIDC officials from their deep slumber, a poster depicting pictures and details of the locations the potholes on the roads of Waluj MIDC was put on display at MIDC office at Maharana Pratap Chowk in Waluj. Meanwhile, a copy of the poster with 54 potholes was also gifted to the MIDC in the wake of the corporations 54th anniversary celebrations on Monday," said Ganesh Ghule, NCP Youth wing, state unit secretary.
He further said, "Bad condition of roads are resulting in frequent accidents, putting lives at risk. All the main and internal roads in Waluj MIDC area have worsened. There is heavy traffic on all the roads. Since the roads are frequently used by heavy vehicles, there are potholes everywhere," he said.
"The Waluj MIDC area is the biggest industrial area in Aurangabad with over 2,500 industries including multinational companies. More than 2 lakh people commute in the area for employment. However pathetic condition of roads is taking a toll on commuters health. Despite repeated reminders the MIDC has been turning a blind eye towards the issue," he added.
Expressing doubt over government's investment plan Ghule asked, "The government of Maharashtra is inviting investors for setting up big industrial units in the state but if we do not provide good infrastructure, like roads how can we expect multinational company to set up a unit here?"
Many activists including VIthal Kamble, Maruti Dhumal, Nutan Adsare, Machhindra Pulawale, Sanjay Alanjkar, Karan Sale, Feroz Pathan, Umesh Dudhate, Sumit Kulkarni, Amol Ozalwar and Gajanan Naik raised slogans demanding the MIDC to fill potholes and save lives.
