Power supply of 9,071 defaulters snapped in Aurangabad circle

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), Aurangabad circle, has discontinued the power supply of as many as 9,071 consumers as a part of its recovery drive to collect Rs650 crore in dues. The power utility has stated that the drive will be intensified in days to come and appealed to defaulting consumers to pay their bills in order to avoid action. MSEDCL Aurangabad circle public relations officer (PRO) Dnyaneshwar Ardad said a total of 3,79,546 consumers from different categories together owe Rs650 crore in power dues. “Our officers and staffers are carrying out the bill recovery drive in rigorous mode. While the power supply of defaulters is being snapped, a close watch is also being kept on such consumers, so that they cannot engage in theft by drawing power in an unauthorised manner from neighbours or overhead cables,” Ardad said. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar urban limits alone have over 1.13 lakh defaulter consumers, who collectively own Rs60.24 crore in dues. The rural areas have over 1.58 lakh defaulters who owe Rs370.51 crore in total. Jalna district, which comes under Aurangabad circle of the MSEDCL, has over 1.07 lakh defaulters, who have not paid dues worth more than Rs219.47 crore. The state power utility has appealed to consumers to pay their power dues either through the online or offline modes. The option of online payment is available on www.mahadiscom.in, besides on the official MSEDCL mobile app and different UPIs, said officials.
