Aurangabad: The Latur police arrested two accused — a newlywed man and his friend, who had been evading arrest for two days — on Tuesday on charges of brandishing swords during the pre-wedding ceremony. These arrests are in addition to four earlier arrests in the same case.
The men arrested on Tuesday have been identified as Shubham Tumkute, the bridegroom, and his friend Salim Shaikh.

Superintendent of police Nikhil Pingale told TOI, “It is unlawful and abnormal to wave swords while dancing to songs. Such acts will not be tolerated.” The officer added that the Latur police are keeping a close watch on such activities on social media.
An officer from the local crime branch said the police have been keeping an eye on people who, in an attempt to boast or show-off, are committing such acts and using social media to communicate the same to others.
The alleged incident took place during Tumkute’s haldi ceremony on February 16. The video was uploaded on social media. A couple of days later, he got married. However, the Latur police got the video and verified its authenticity.
An offence was registered at the Vivekanand police station on Sunday for violation of Covid-19 norms as well as under relevant sections of the Indian Arms Act.
Police teams initially arrested four men. When Tumkute learned about the police action, he fled. But was finally nabbed on Tuesday.
