MSWC conducts one-day workshop for women

AURANGABAD: As a part of awareness drive, Maharashtra State Women Commission (MSWC) conducted a one-day divisional workshop for members of public authorities, NGOs and other stakeholders at Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad Research Centre at Majnoo Hills here on Friday.

The workshop saw three sessions including mediation, counselling and general awareness on several laws related to woman empowerment.

Maharashtra assembly speaker and BJP’s senior leader Haribhau Bagade inaugurated the event in presence of Vijaya Rahatkar – chairperson of the commission and Aurangabad police commissioner, Amitesh Kumar.

Speaking at the inaugural session, Bagade urged the participants to create awareness on various schemes and laws that are meant for woman empowerment.

Rahatkar said that the divisional level workshop would go a long way in creating a level playing field for women. “We have so many laws for protecting the interests of the weaker sex but unfortunately most of the women are still unaware of it. We want to educate women and bring them at par with their male counterparts,” she said.

Rahatkar also said that workshop would help sensitize the government machinery towards the issues of woman and create a favourable atmosphere in the society.
