MGM to organise Triathlon, Duathlon 2016

AURANGABAD: Come December 25, 2016, Marathwada's first national

triathlon

and

duathlon

will take off at the campus of

MGM

in

Aurangabad

as part of celebration of MGM's 34th Foundation Day. This will be the first of its kind event "Triathlon" swim-cycle-run and Duathlon run-cycle-run.

"The mission is to encourage, support and enhance the multisport experience and to engage every citizen in multi-sport lifestyle; thus creating healthy mind and body," said director

The management of the race has appealed to the interested sports persons to register before December 15, 2016. "Spot registration will not be accepted. Event is open for boys and girls, women and men; athletes below 13 should register through sports club or swimming coach. Swimming will be at MGM pool; while cycling and running will be within the MGM campus for kids," said a MGM official.

"For adults, swimming will be at MGM pool; cycling and running will be outside the campus," said the official.

TRIATHLON 2016 offers a unique destination in Sprint category - RACE of swim 750 mtrs -- cycle 20km -- run 5km. Apart from this, there are categories like the Super Sprint Triathlon swim 400 mts -- cycle 10km -- run 2.5. In Fun Triathlon Swim 100 mts -- cycle 5 km -- run 3 km and KIDS Triathlon swim 50 mts -- cycle 2 km -- run 1 km; Duathlon 2016 offers in sprint category run 5km - cycle 20km- run 5km and super sprint run 2km - cycle 10km - run 2km.

Categories are designed to reach out to a wider audience and encourage participation across all age groups. "A person who likes to swim, cycle or run as hobbies can put them together and give the triathlon a shot, which would give a great experience," said Kakkad.
