Maratha stir on quota still continues in Beed district

AURANGABAD: Members of the

Maratha

Kranti Morcha have continued their strike till the government stays its mega recruitment decision and decides on the Maratha reservation issue.

Members of the Maratha Kranti Morcha had launched a sit-in agitation in the Parli Vaijanath tehsil office on Wednesday. The announcement made by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis in the state assembly of keeping aside 16% positions from the recruitment process and exploring possibility of introducing Maratha reservation by going through different legalities failed to cut ice with the outfit.

Abasaheb Patil, state organizer of the Maratha Kranti Morcha, told TOI on Friday that they have decided to continue with their agitation at Parli till the government meets their main demands. “We want the mega recruitment process to be postponed till the Maratha reservation issue is decided and a time-bound progamme for the reservation,” he said.

Patil, who hails from Pune, said they are aware that it is not possible for the chief minister to implement his announcement. “Either he should start the recruitment of Maratha candidates instead of keeping the positions aside or stay the entire process till the Maratha reservation comes into effect,” Patil said.

He added that conveners of the Maratha Kranti Morcha across the state have been asked to reach out to the 288 MLAs to tell them what Marathas want.

Meanwhile, the

Beed

activists who had resorted to similar agitation in front of the

district

collectorate have moved to Parli.
