As per the official order, the number of daily free and paid passes issued to devotees have been capped at 10,000 and 2,5000, respectively, and everyone entering the temple premise must wear a face mask.

“The devotees are encouraged to take virtual darshan instead of visiting the temple. All temple services can be viewed at www.shrituljabhavani.org,” an official release said.

Asserting that all Covid-related prevention norms are sacrosanct, the district administration has said violation of the rules would attract strict action.

Considered one of the major shrines in Maharashtra, Tuljabhavani temple at Tuljapur witnesses heavy footfall of devotees every day with the number of visitors reaching up to seven lakh during the festival of Navaratri among other major religious occasions.

Earlier, in January, the temple management had invoked action against as many as 24 priests associated with the temple for entering into the sanctum sanctorum of the shrine during a period other than allotted shifts despite a ban.
