Aurangabad: A 28-year-old lawyer was allegedly assaulted by iron rods in Samarth Nagar area of the city by two people after the former parked his car in front of the latter’s restaurant and went to meet his relative admitted to a nearby hospital.
In the attack, the lawyer — Kiran Rajput, a resident of Satara area in the city — has sustained injuries on his hand and head. The suspect duo even snatched the keys of the car.
A case against the duo was registered in the wee hours of Tuesday. However, the suspects, owners of the restaurant, are yet to be arrested.
The duo has been booked under charges of voluntary causing hurt with dangerous weapons, wrongful restraint and intentional insult with intention to provoke breach of the trust.
As per the complaint lodged by Rajput, he was attacked on Tuesday evening by the duo while getting into his car park outside the restaurant.
“As the lawyer tried to make the duo understand, one of the suspects got hold of the car keys and fled. Later, Rajput’s cousin came to his rescue and called the police control room. A team from Kranti Chowk police station reached the spot in 15 minutes,” a police officer said.
“The police then took the keys from the suspects who were sitting in the restaurant. The lawyer was later sent to a hospital for treatment,” he added.
Investigation officer and police sub-inspector Mahadeo Gaikwad said, “I have carried out preliminary probe in the case and have submitted the details to the police station chief for further action.”
