Jeweller alleges Rajkot traders cheated him of Rs 2.9 crore
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A city-based jeweller alleged that three Rajkot-based traders cheated him of gold, silver and copper worth Rs 2.9 crore after luring him with promises of low-cost jewellery manufacturing, the police said. An FIR was registered at the City Chowk police station under BNS sections 3 (5), 316 (2), 318 (4) against Jaideep Zinzuwadiya, Vishal Zinzuwadiya and Kalpesh Zinzuwadiya, all residents of Rajkot in Gujarat.According to the complaint filed by Atish Savaiwala (46), who runs Ankita Jewellers in Kasari Bazaar, he had business relations with Jaideep and Vishal for over a decade. The duo used to supply jewellery made of gold and earned his trust through regular transactions amounting to Rs 7-8 crore over the years. On Jan 26, the three accused visited the city and claimed they had tied up with major companies and could manufacture jewellery at a reduced labour charge of 1.5%. They allegedly assured delivery within 20-25 days, convincing Savaiwala to hand over raw materials.The complainant stated that he gave them 1,695g of gold bullion, 226.11g of silver and 96.9g of copper. However, the accused allegedly failed to deliver the jewellery within the promised period and became unreachable.
In his complaint, Savaiwala stated that he later to Rajkot, where the accused claimed that their workers had stolen the gold. When he sought to lodge a complaint, he was allegedly threatened by a group of people and warned of false kidnapping charges.He further alleged that the accused later issued threats over phone, warning him against visiting Rajkot and demanding that he forget the material. Based on the complaint, police initiated a probe into the alleged cheating and criminal breach of trust.
