Aurangabad: Fifteen candidates, including three representing political parties, are set to contest legislative council elections for teachers' constituency from Marathwada region.
Overall, 30 forms were filed by these candidates till Friday, the last day of withdrawal. Jagdish Miniyar, the deputy commissioner of the revenue department, who has been appointed as assistant returning officer for these elections, released the list of candidates that would be contesting elections. Two-time MLC Vikram Kale will be trying his luck for the third time as the official candidate of NCP, while professor Kiran Patil is contesting on the BJP ticket. Kalidas Mane is contesting on Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi’s ticket.
Congress and Shiv Sena have declared their support for Kale. Recently, BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that the Shikshak Parishad in Marathwada did not have any candidate, so BJP finalised Patil’s name. The others currently in the fray include Aniket Waghchhavre Patil, Prof Ashwinkumar Kshirsagar, Ashish Deshmukh, Kadri Shahed, Dr Ganesh Shetkar, Nitin Kulkarni, Pradipdada Solunke, Manoj Patil, Vishal Nadarkar, Suryakant Vishvasrao, Sanjay Tyade and Dnyanoba Dukre.
