Cyclist hit by unidentified vehicle dies

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Two days after he was hit by a vehicle, Gaurav Gharte, a 22-year-old cyclist, died while undergoing treatment in a private hospital on Saturday.
Gaurav, a resident of Kannad from Aurangabad district, was cycling on Pishor Khandi road when he met with an accident. He is survived by parents, who are zilla parishad teachers, and a brother. The last rites were performed in Kannad on Saturday evening.
Aurangabad district cycling association has appealed to its members to take precautions. “Cyclists should strictly follow dos and don’ts associated with safe cycling. Cycle rides must be undertaken during the day. The cyclist must wear safety gear. Periodic maintenance of cycles is a must,” Amogh Jain, executive member of the association, said.
The association has also appealed to cyclists to follow traffic discipline, especially on crowded roads.
