Aurangabad: The Jawahar nagar police remained confused over the jurisdiction of a city trader’s house that was burgled in the wee hours of Wednesday.
After the incident came to light on Wednesday morning, the Jawahar nagar police denied that it falls under its jurisdiction and informed the complainant that the burgled house falls under the jurisdiction of Osmanpura police station.
The trader had gone to his hometown to attend a relative’s funeral, when unidentified thieves broke into his house which situated in an upscale locality. The alleged thieves fled away with articles including 80 grams of gold and cash of Rs 1.5 lakh.
Only after a call to the police control, the Jawahar Nagar police was asked to reach the spot.
The incident took place at Khinwsara park of Ulkanagri owned by Shaktisingh Rajpurohit, who along with wife and kid went to Rajasthan on July 18, while tasking the maid to sweep the house daily.
When the maid reached the house at 9 am, she found the locks of the iron grill broken. She informed the neighbours who then alerted Shaktisingh’s brother.
Meanwhile, the message was passed on to the area police station.Senior authorities believe that the failure in understanding the exact address might have caused the confusion amongst the police.
On the inspection of the house, it was found that the suspects had cut open the wooden frame of the main entrance, after they failed to break the lock.
Some of residents from the locality said that the dogs were barking in the wee hours. After inspecting the area, the police found that the suspects had given biscuits and meat to silence the dog.
The crime branch and the Jawahar nagar police scanned the CCTV cameras in and around the locality, to look for clues. Police are also checking if it was an insider’s job.
