Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 16-year-old Class XI student was stabbed to death by three juveniles in Nanded on Sunday afternoon, allegedly over an old dispute, the police said. The accused, all minors, were detained within hours of the incident while attempting to flee.The deceased has been identified as Kamalpreet Singh, alias Prince Khalsa, a resident of Dilipsingh Colony. The incident occurred near the Govardhan Ghat bridge around 4.30pm.Based on a complaint lodged by the victim's mother, the Wazirabad police registered a case of murder. Nanded superintendent of police Avinash Kumar said swift action led to the detention of the accused boys. "The accused were identified quickly and apprehended within hours of the crime. All three are juveniles. The investigation is being carried out as per legal procedure under the Juvenile Justice Act," he said.Further investigation is underway, and the suspects have been sent to a juvenile home.According to the police, Kamalpreet had quarrelled with a friend from his neighbourhood around 8 to 10 days ago. During the altercation, he allegedly assaulted the friend.
Though the elders later intervened and resolved the dispute, the accused allegedly nursed a grudge and plotted revenge.On Sunday afternoon, the trio allegedly learnt that Kamalpreet was near the Govardhan Ghat bridge. They reached the spot and attacked him with a knife, stabbing him in the abdomen. He collapsed after suffering heavy blood loss.Passers-by and residents rushed the injured teenager on a scooter to a private hospital in the Kautha area. However, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.After the incident, the three accused fled the scene. Acting on specific inputs, the local crime branch traced and detained them while they were trying to escape via the Narsi-Naigaon route
