Civic squad nabs siblings, seizes suspected beef
Aurangabad: The flying squad of the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) nabbed two siblings from Sillod taluka and seized about 500 kg of suspected beef from them on Sunday morning.
An SUV carrying the meat was intercepted by the squad headed by Mohammed Qadir Mohammed Yakub Khan at Bajrang Chowk. The squad immediately informed the Cidco police, which rushed to the spot and seized the vehicle.
Based on a complaint lodged by Qadir, the brothers — Shaikh Anees (22) and Raees (23) — of Sneh Nagar in Sillod were booked under the relevant sections of Maharashtra Animal Preservation (Amendment) Bill 1995.
Cidco police inspector Kailash Prajapati said the suspects were on Monday produced in a local court, which remanded them in judicial custody.
The officer said that the SUV in which the ‘beef’ samples of the seized meat have been sent to a laboratory for testing.
Police as well as the civic body have formed teams to keep a check on vehicles in view of the forthcoming festival of Eid Ul Zuha or Bakri Eid.
